The Miami Dolphins were back on the practice field on Friday, as they hosted a group of first-year players for their rookie minicamp, which will run through Sunday.
Before the sessions started, the Dolphins officially announced the signings of 11 undrafted free agents who will also be competing for jobs and snaps over the next few months alongside 13 rookies that the team took in the 2026 NFL draft.
Among those undrafted rookies is former Wisconsin linebacker Mason Reiger, whom Eric Galko, director of football operations of the East-West Shrine Bowl, believes could've gone as early as Day 2.
"He had third-, fourth-, fifth-round grades, but he had medical stuff [that pushed him down]," Galko told the "Miami Herald" recently. "Teams didn’t feel comfortable [with that]. But he’s immensely talented. He won MVP in the Shrine Bowl — had three sacks in the game — and was dominating all week. He was great at Wisconsin. The Dolphins got third-, fourth-round value.”
Reiger began his collegiate career at Louisville before transferring to Wisconsin for his final season. The 6-foot-5 linebacker had five sacks in 11 starts for the Badgers last year after missing the 2024 season. Galko believes it was Reiger's medicals that kept teams from selecting him.
Since his signing was originally reported, Reiger has been called the favorite of the undrafted free agent class to make the roster out of camp. With Miami looking for options to rush the passer from the edge, Reiger has as good a chance as anyone to carve out a spot for himself.
