Brighton boss Hurzeler signs new contract
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler signs new three-year deal until 2029.
Drake London and Kyle Pitts of the Atlanta Falcons are potential unrestricted free agents in 2027 if they do not secure new contracts by March. Both players are currently under contract only through the 2026 season.
Once the Atlanta Falcons have their 2026 NFL Draft class signed, the next order of business should be locking up their best skill players with long-term contracts.
That includes their three best offensive playmakers: wide receiver Drake London, tight end Kyle Pitts and running back Bijan Robinson. After getting his fifth-year option picked up, Robinson is now under contract through the 2027 season - so the Falcons have some time to work out a deal, there.
London and Pitts are another story, however. Both are currently under contract only through the 2026 campaign, so if they don't sign new deals by next March they will become unrestricted free agents.
They will be coveted free agents, too. Daniel Popper at The Athletic has London and Pitts listed among his top 30 potential free agents in 2027, with London coming in at No. 6.
"Through Week 11, London was fifth in the league in receiving yards. He is an elite ball winner on the outside. Even with the injury, London finished second in the NFL with nine contested catches, according to Pro Football Focus. Only Nacua had more."
A fully-healthy London is one of the league's best young No. 1 wide receivers, and signing him to a lucrative new deal should be an absolute no-brainer. One team insider believes his next deal will look a lot like the contract that the Jets gave Garrett Wilson.
Meanwhile, Pitts came in at No. 25 in Popper's rankings.

"Pitts was a top-20 player on our initial top 150 in February. The Falcons franchise-tagged him before he could hit the open market. The 2021 No. 4 pick is due to make $15.045 million on the tag. Like the Jets and Hall, the Falcons and Pitts have until July to negotiate a long-term extension."
While re-signing London is a slam dunk, Pitts is a little harder to make a case for. The first four years of his NFL career Pitts' numbers were a bit underwhelming - especially for a top-five overall pick.
However, Pitts is coming off a breakout season in 2025, having totaled 88 catches, 928 yards and five touchdowns. Considering the quarterbacking he had to work with, those are pretty spectacular stats. Pitts' trajectory was rising even before last year - his touchdown total has risen each season, from one as a rookie, to two in 2022, then three, then four and five last year. Pitts also posted a career-high 74.6% catch rate, far above his career mark of 63%.
If the Falcons believe that this is just the beginning of Pitts finally living up to his status as a top-five pick then they shouldn't hesitate to re-sign him to a long-term deal. That he was rumored to be on the trade block going into the draft may be a sign that the new front office isn't 100% sold on Pitts, yet.
The best way forward here may be to let Pitts play out 2026 under the franchise tag and then re-evaluate next offseason.
