The Las Vegas Raiders brought aboard a couple of rookies in the last week that have also caught the attention of the Canadian Football League.
Generally, you'd assume they'll do everything they can to pursue the NFL first, but it does add a little wrinkle to things.
The CFL holds something called a Global Draft, where players from outside of Canada and the U.S. can be chosen to have their rights held by various Canadian teams.
In that draft, the Saskatchewan Roughriders selected kicker Kansei Matsuzawa.
The Raiders signed Matsuzawa as an undrafted free agent to compete for their kicking job.
He's originally from Japan, where he learned to placekick by watching YouTube videos. In 2025 at the University of Hawaii, Matsuzawa only missed one kick the whole season.

The full CFL Draft actually took place recently, too, and in that the Raiders had their minicamp invite Niklas Henning chosen second overall by the Toronto Argonauts.
Henning is from Queen's University in Canada and probably has a chance to earn a training camp spot and maybe more with the Raiders.
