The Tennessee Titans selected Dez Fitzpatrick in the 2021 NFL draft but missed the chance to draft Amon-Ra St. Brown, who became an All-Pro wide receiver. This decision raises questions about the Titans' potential Super Bowl aspirations had they chosen St. Brown instead.
The Tennessee Titans selected wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick with the No. 109 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. In doing so, they passed on an eventual All-Pro performer at the same position: Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Fitzpatrick played four seasons in the NFL from 2021 to 2024. He spent his first two years with the Titans, combining for just 49 receiving yards over the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He then played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023 before joining the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024.
The Titans had the opportunity to draft one of the most productive wide receivers in the league today in St. Brown. Re-examining the 2021 NFL draft and imagining St. Brown in a Tennessee uniform raises the question of whether the Titans might have been within reach of a Super Bowl had they chosen him over Fitzpatrick.
By passing on St. Brown, the Titans missed out on the services of a four-time 1,000-yard receiver. St. Brown first reached the 1,000-yard mark in his second NFL season in 2022, recording 1,161 yards. As a rookie, he came close with 912 yards. He has been named a three-time All-Pro, earning first-team honors twice (2023 and 2024) and second-team honors once (2025).
Amon-Ra St. Brown became an All-Pro wide receiver, showcasing significant productivity and talent in the league.
Dez Fitzpatrick had a limited impact, recording only 49 receiving yards over his first two seasons with the Titans.
The Titans' decision to draft Fitzpatrick instead of St. Brown raises speculation about their potential Super Bowl chances had they made a different choice.

Hufanga is the most accomplished player, outside of St. Brown, that the Titans had the chance to select with the No. 109 overall pick. He was named a first-team All-Pro in 2022 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2025 with the Denver Broncos.
