The Cadillac Championship returns to Trump National Doral this week after a decade, featuring a $20 million purse and top players like Scottie Scheffler and Justin Rose. The event will determine the best score for the year at the famed Blue Monster course.

It’s been 10 years since the PGA Tour has held an event at Trump National Doral in Miami, but that’ll change this week with the "inaugual" Cadillac Championship. (We put "inaugural" in air quotes because coincidentally the car company was the sponsor back in 2016 when Doral last hosted a World Golf Championship event). The return to the famed Blue Monster, this time as a signature event with a $20 million purse, will bring out several marquee players, including Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young and Justin Rose leading the charge at the 7,739-yard Florida behemoth.
Whoever wins this week will (obviously) set a record for best score at this event … at least for a calendar year. And that could be the aforementioned Scheffler, Young and Rose, or fellow top pros such as Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Russell Henley, J.J. Spaun, Chris Gotterup, Sepp Straka, Hideki Matsuyama or recent Zurich Classic champ Alex Fitzpatrick.
The last winner at Trump National was Adam Scott by one stroke over Bubba Watson at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2016. Scott will be in the field this week, as well.
"It's great to be back here," Scott said Tuesday. "Good memories for me. Obviously winning the last time we were here, but always enjoyed playing this golf course. It's a challenge. It's called the Blue Monster for a reason. It's a big golf course, very penal. The wind can blow, and that's the biggest challenge out here. So you've got to strike it well, just demanding tee to green. It's great that we're back, and looking forward to this week."
This week’s winners will receive a $3.6 million cut of the $20 million purse and 700 FedEx Cup points.

The linchpin of the famous four-course complex previously known as Doral Golf Resort, the Blue Monster had hosted a PGA Tour event annually from 1962 to 2016. The fearsome layout was designed by Dick Wilson in 1962 and set the template for the modern south Florida course with lakes galore, deep bunkers and greenpads elevated above the fairways for drainage and aerial target golf.
