After taking a surprise pole position for the sprint race on the Saturday of the Miami Grand Prix race weekend, Lando Norris nodded to the substantial array of upgrades the Woking team implemented for his jump in performance.
βA perfect result for us. A nice way to reward the team,β he said. βWe have a lot of new upgrades on the car. Itβs nice to feel some grip again and to reward the guys and the girls that have put a lot of work into this.
βIβve always loved Miami on and off the track. Itβs the beginning of the weekend, so still a long way to go but nice to tick things off by doing this.β
On McLarenβs fight with Mercedes, Norris admitted that Miami may suit the Woking outfit more than their Brackley rivals.
βThe track is different. We know this track has always been good to us but knew what we were bringing was going to be a good step and it has.
βItβs nice our estimations have proved correct and the team deserve that.
βSince the first lap Iβve felt comfortable and was like βIβve got a bit of rear gripβ.β
