The Arizona Cardinals are at the center of the discussion with the 2026 NFL draft. They have the third overall pick in the draft, they want to move back and they also seemingly want to draft quarterback Ty Simpson.
If they aren't able to trade out of the third pick, though, things could get interesting.
Draft analyst Todd McShay spoke about the Cardinals on the latest episode of his podcast.
"I've been saying all along there's a voice on the Cardinals pushing for (Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah) Love," he said. "It's been over a month. And I'm hearing that voice carries more weight than maybe I thought.
"I'm told if Arizona sticks, it's Jeremiah Love."
He also said that no team in the top 10 of the draft wants to move back as much as the Cardinals do.
Love might be the best player in the draft, but he would create redundancy in the running back room. The Cardinals brought back James Conner and Trey Benson. They signed Tyler Allgeier. While Benson could probably be dealt, that is a lot of guys to share carries in the run game, even in the most run-heavy offensive system.
Now, whose voice is the one with a lot of weight? It would have to be owner Michael Bidwill. GM Monti Ossenfort is the guy normally in charge and is likely the one wanting to move back. New head coach Mike LaFleur likely doesn't have that much say or weight in personnel. Bidwill is the only one who could carry that much weight.
Now, it would be an exciting year if the Cardinals got both Love and Simpson. That would be a young, exciting pairing to go with tight end and receivers and
