It’s finally time for the 2026 NFL Draft, and it’s a big one for the Detroit Lions.
After a disappointing 9-8 season, a modest free agency period, and a lot of waiting, the Lions have nine picks this weekend to create some positive buzz and add some important players to the team’s roster.
Lions general manager Brad Holmes has thrived on draft weekend since coming to town in 2021. His first three drafts have already cemented themselves as some of the best in team history. And while the 2024 draft looks to be a significant step back, they got some decent production out of last year’s class in their collective rookie seasons.
While Holmes has nine picks, only two are in the NFL Draft’s top-100 selections. That means Holmes will either have to move around the board to get some high-impact players, or he’ll have to find some serious diamonds in the rough during a busy Day 3 (currently slated to have seven picks).
Regardless of what they do, this is your home to talk about Day 1 of the NFL Draft. Feel free to comment on all of the picks, and especially during the Lions’ 17th overall selection. Just scroll down to the comment section and go at it.
And if you’re looking for running Lions commentary during Thursday night, be sure to tune into our live draft show over on Twitch and YouTube. I’ve embedded the Twitch stream below, but you can go over to YouTube if that’s your preferred platform.
