The Arizona Cardinals have the third overall pick in the draft and are believed to want to trade out of the pick, move down and acquire more selections. That has led to speculation as to who might be a trade partner.
A number of teams could do it, but one has had talks — the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to Todd McShay in the newest episode of his podcast, "there's talk about them moving up to three."
The Chiefs have two picks in the first round — No. 9 and No. 29. If they were willing to trade both those picks to the Cardinals for No. 3 (and the Cardinals might need to throw in their third-round pick), then they could be in position to both take a tackle they want and get quarterback Ty Simpson at the end of the first round.
The Chiefs could be targeting a tackle or a defensive player, perhaps an edge rusher like David Bailey, who seems likely to be on the board at No. 3.
The first round begins Thursday at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. Arizona time) from Pittsburgh. That is when the fun will begin, and really it is with the third pick that things start to get intriguing.
