The 2026 NFL Power Rankings have been released following the NFL Draft and free agency, assessing all 32 teams' current standings. The rankings evaluate how teams have reshaped their rosters ahead of the summer practices.
What is the best NFL team right now? Free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft have now come to a close, with the two biggest offseason dominoes and opportunities for clubs to reshape their rosters in the rearview mirror. With practices next, itās time to look at where every team stands in the hierarchy of the league.
Letās dive into our 2026 NFL power rankings, as we evaluate where all 32 clubs stand right now with their rosters before the summer.

The Seattle Seahawks are the best NFL team right now. Going from Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker to Jadarian Price is an obvious downgrade, but this team hoisted the Lombardi Trophy because of one of the leagueās best defenses in the last five-plus years. While the Seahawks roster overall might not be quite as strong as it was a few months ago, the defense is well-positioned to replicate its success with Mike Macdonald. With how wide-open the top of the NFL is, thatās enough to put Seattle up top for now.

If the Los Angeles Rams used their top pick on a player who could help immediately, perhaps they jump the Seahawks in our 2026 NFL power rankings. What Los Angeles did accomplish this offseason is finally improving its secondary, acquiring Trent McDuffie and , all the while keeping their safety grouping intact. Our primary concern with the Rams roster now centers around the right tackle spot and that this roster is going to be relying on two aging centerpieces in and . With that said, the Rams do have as good of a chance as anyone at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy come February.
The Seattle Seahawks are ranked as the best team in the 2026 NFL Power Rankings.
The NFL Draft provided teams with opportunities to reshape their rosters, significantly influencing their rankings.
Summer practices for NFL teams are set to begin after the conclusion of the NFL Draft and free agency.

Putting the Philadelphia Eagles this high among the best NFL teams might be a bit ambitious given A.J. Brown is being traded and there seems to be real turmoil internally. What matters to us is Philadelphia will have a healthy offensive line entering next season, and new play-caller Sean Mannion will be the one to center this offense more around Saquon Barkley. That should lead to a more consistent unit, and we have no doubt Vic Fangio will orchestrate one of the leagueās top defenses. Thereās a lower floor with the Eagles than some other teams in this range, but we also wouldnāt be surprised if this team is playing in the Super Bowl.

The Buffalo Bills receiving corps is certainly better moving forward thanks to the D.J. Moore trade, but itās worth keeping in mind that he had plenty of lapses in effort in Chicago. What is worth wondering about this team is how the defense fares in its first season with defensive play-caller Jim Leonhard. He could be a defensive wizard, but there will be moments when the inexperience shows. Itās also fair to wonder if, in his age-30 season, Josh Allen can stay as durable as heās been after all the hits accumulated in recent years. As of now, though, we view Buffalo as the best team in the AFC.

The changes made to the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff are a step in the right direction. Jesse Minter is the caliber of defensive mind who can deliver the improvements we saw from Mike Macdonald in Seattle. It also helps that the team brought in Trey Hendrickson and Zion Young, all to pair with the potential return of Nnamdi Madubuike from what was feared to be a career-ending injury. Baltimore even strengthened its receiving corps (JaāKobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt) to help out Lamar Jackson. Thereās a chance this could be the best NFL team in 2026, but at this point, weāve learned that the Ravens have to prove it in the postseason.

The San Francisco 49ers roster is healthy, for now. Thatās never a given with this team, and the return of Dre Greenlaw, Nick Bosa, and Mykel Williamsāpaired with the signings of Christian Kirk and Mike Evansāonly added more durability risks for this club. However, the ceiling for this offense is remarkably high and the floor under Kyle Shanahan is still a top-10 unit even if injuries strike. As things stand, the 49ers are unquestionably one of the best NFL teams right now. Of course, that changes depending on which players get hurt and when.

Weāre not too concerned about the Chicago Bears having a year-to-year regression like the Commanders did a season ago. While the offensive line might take a slight step back with Garrett Bradbury at center, Chicagoās defense can take a step forward with a healthy secondary and the additions of Coby Bryant, Dillon Thieneman and Malik Muhammad. Furthermore, the Bears coaching staff is one of the best in the NFL, and weāre anticipating a third-year leap from Caleb Williams.

C.J. Stroud had one of the worst playoff stretches weāll ever witness, and the Houston Texans still nearly reached the AFC Championship Game. What should be slightly concerning for the rest of the league is that Houstonās defense could be even better in 2026, and its backfield will certainly be better with the acquisition of David Montgomery. What will determine if Houston can become the best NFL team in 2026 is if the additions to the offensive line (Braden Smith, Wyatt Teller and Keylan Rutledge) finally provide Stroud with the pass protection he needs to perform like an above-average starter.

The Green Bay Packersā collapse in the Wild Card Round overshadowed the fact that they played relatively well in that game even with four of their best players (Devonte Wyatt, Zach Tom, Tucker Kraft and Micah Parsons) on injured reserve. Tom and Kraft will be out there for Week 1 this fall, monumental returns for Matt LaFleurās offense. Wyatt will be back too, joined by Javon Hargrave, Chris McClellan and Dani Dennis-Sutton for a defensive front that should at least be adequate under Jonathan Gannon until Parsons returns. Green Bay has a good shot at double-digit wins this fall.

The Denver Broncos might be the reigning AFC champions had it not been for the Bo Nix injury. After getting that close, head coach Sean Payton and the Broncos front office got aggressive this offseason and added Jaylen Waddle to the receiving corps. Not only does Nix now have an excellent pass-catching duo, but Denver will also have a healthy J.K. Dobbins; the difference in the effectiveness of this rushing attack was night and day before and after his season-ending injury. Pair all that with an excellent defense, and you have one of the 10 best NFL teams with the ceiling to be a top-five club.

Needless to say, weāre expecting some regression from the New England Patriots in 2026. Drake Maye is an outstanding quarterback, and the arrival of A.J. Brown will provide this passing game with the true game-changing wide receiver it needs. New Englandās offensive line could also be better this fall thanks to the addition of Alijah Vera-Tucker, which moved Jared Wilson inside. However, a lot went right for the Patriots last year to go 14-3 and reach the Super Bowl. Regression is real, and itās coming for Foxborough.

Can the Detroit Lions offensive line return to form, and what will this defense look like in 2026? Those are the two questions holding us back from putting this club much higher in our 2026 NFL power rankings. Defensively, All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph is dealing with a degenerative knee issue and Brian Branch is working his way back from a torn Achilles suffered in December. As for the Lions offensive line, thereās now a lot riding on right tackle Blake Miller and the young guard tandem of Tate Ratledge and Christian Mahogany. Detroit could be great, but itās just as likely this teamās Super Bowl window has already closed and the Lions will just be a perennial playoff contender.

Weāre buying proverbial stock in the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2026 NFL season. They won seven games last season with one of the leagueās worst defenses and an offense that ranked fifth in EPA per Play (0.109) amid injuries. That same offense is back and they now have an outstanding defensive coordinator (Christian Parker) overseeing this unit, with Rashan Gary, Caleb Downs, Dee Winters and Malachi Lawrence added. A league-average defense for Dallas is possible, and if that happens, we wouldnāt be stunned if this team finds a way to win the NFC East.

If you could guarantee that Patrick Mahomes would be 100 percent in Week 1 and immediately return to form, thereās no question the Kansas City Chiefs would be a top-10 team in our 2026 NFL power rankings. However, thatās not a given and thatās already enough of a question mark without getting into the overhauled secondary and the legitimate questions about this pass-rushing unit ahead of Chris Jonesā age-32 season. Maybe the Chiefs can be one of the best NFL teams in 2026, but we need to see it happen first.

Itās great for Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers offense that Mike McDaniel is here. Heās one of the best play-callers in the NFL and we should see improvement from both the Chargersā rushing attack and Herbertās overall consistency. The problem is the defense. Los Angeles greatly outperformed its talent on that side of the ball because it had defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Heās gone now and not much was done to upgrade this side of the ball. We have our doubts about the Chargers making the leap to become a top-10 team.
Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
The best thing the Jacksonville Jaguars could do this summer is commit to primarily playing Travis Hunter at cornerback. If that decision is made, shoring up the most glaring weakness on this defense, it will slightly make up for an extremely underwhelming 2026 NFL Draft class. On the bright side, weāre excited to see Trevor Lawrence in his second season with Liam Coen, and the fact that Jacksonville was able to keep play-caller Anthony Campanile this offseason was a huge win for the defense.
Sam Greene/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
There have been plenty of reasons to be critical of the Cincinnati Bengals front office. However, trading for Dexter Lawrence to pair with the signings of Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook and Kyle Dugger will help this defense improve. We might not see as big of a year-to-year improvement defensively as weāre expecting from Dallas, but a top-20 defense with what Joe Burrow and Co. can do for the Bengals offense in 2026 can absolutely get this team back into the playoffs.
Jerome Miron-Imagn Images
It seems like people are forgetting the level Kyler Murray played at the last time we saw him. Among quarterbacks over the last two seasons, he ranked 15th in EPA per Play (0.134), and that came with a 68.7% completion rate, a 27-14 TD-INT ratio and a 92.4 QB rating. Even if he is just a top-15 starter, thatās a monumental upgrade over what the Minnesota Vikings had under center last season. They already have a great defense with an excellent cast of offensive weapons. Minnesota seems destined to surprise a lot of people.
Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images
The Carolina Panthers had a worse point differential than the four-win New York Giants (-58), the seven-win Cowboys (-40), and the six-win Chiefs (+34). All of this is to say that as great of a story as Bryce Youngās third NFL season was, this team could fall back to earth a bit. We like the addition of edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd, but Carolinaās offensive line is banged-up already and Young still has real limitations. Carolina may win the NFC South, but finishing last is also on the table.
Michael Longo/For USA Today Network-PA / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Yes, putting the Pittsburgh Steelers at this spot in our 2026 NFL power rankings assumes that Aaron Rodgers will be the starting quarterback in Week 1. If heās not, this projects to be one of the five worst NFL teams this upcoming season. Part of this has to do with how much stronger the AFC is moving forward. The Steelers could certainly prove us wrong for this low assessment, but we just donāt see even a moderate ceiling for this team.
Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
Itās an unusual spot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now, where thereās a bit more intrigue for whatās coming on defense than the offense. Good fortune struck the Buccaneers in the 2026 NFL Draft with edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. falling into their laps, providing the pass-rushing juice this front badly needed. What we canāt get over is the departure of Mike Evans and the second-half regression from Baker Mayfield, all the while it feels like the locker room might already be out on Lovie Smith. It feels like if anything goes wrong or the Buccaneers start slow, things will spiral and a midseason firing will effectively end the season.
Brett Davis-Imagn Images
The New Orleans Saintsā future is bright. Weāre believers in Tyler Shough after what he showed down the stretch, especially with the big leap from the Saints offensive line. New Orleans also added a 1B receiver in Jordyn Tyson to complement Chris Olave, and the ground game will be much better this season thanks to the Travis Etienne Jr. signing. As for the defense in New Orleans, itāll probably be the thing that prevents the Saints from winning the NFC South.
Brett Davis-Imagn Images
Can the Atlanta Falcons win the division with their current quarterback situation? Bijan Robinson can carry the offense for stretches, and the receiving corps looks better on paper than it did a season ago. Defensively, putting the James Pearce Jr. off-field stuff to the side, this unit made a real leap forward in 2025. There are actually a few paths where Atlanta could reasonably earn the NFC South crown, but weāve also seen throughout this franchiseās history that something always seems to go wrong.
Brad Rempel-Imagn Images
Will the Washington Commanders be as bad as they were in 2025? Probably not. The hope is that Jayden Daniels stays healthy and the additions of Leo Chenal, Odafe Oweh, Tim Settle, Nick Cross, KāLavon Chaisson and Sonny Styles turned a bottom-five defense into a league-average unit in 2026. With that said, we arenāt particularly high on the Commandersā coaching staff, and the skill group outside of Terry McLaurin leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, with how many emerging contenders there are in the NFC, Washingtonās thinner roster becomes an even bigger issue this coming season.
Brad Penner-Imagn Images
The New York Giants future is bright; even their outlook for the 2027 season looks pretty favorable. While there seems to be a bit of an overstatement regarding how Jaxson Dart performed as a passer in his rookie season, New York improved its offensive line (Francis Mauigoa) and strengthened the offensive weaponry around Dart (Isaiah Likely, Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin and Malachi Fields). Plus, Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers are coming back. Unfortunately for New York, its defense only looks like a top-20 unit, and the NFL as a whole appears much deeper than it has been in previous seasons.
Grace Hollars/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
Weāre not nearly as convinced as the Indianapolis Colts are that Daniel Jones returns to full form early in his first season back from Achilles surgery. Keep in mind that athleticism has been critical to his success and if even some of that is taken away, what he can do is greatly limited. Indianapolis should have a very good defense and Shane Steichen will still be able to center his offense around Jonathan Taylor. However, the concern we have at quarterback is what puts the Colts much lower for us than the consensus NFL power rankings.
Lisa Scalfaro / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
The Cleveland Browns are clearly all-in on giving Shedeur Sanders a true chance to prove himself in 2026. While we werenāt enamored with the teamās haul in free agency, the 2026 NFL Draft class (Spencer Fano, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren and Austin Barber) restored a ton of confidence in the Brownsā offseason moves. We donāt believe Sanders will prove to be the long-term starting quarterback for Cleveland, but Andrew Berry has built an infrastructure that can truly support the next Browns franchise quarterback.
DENNY SIMMONS / THE TENNESSEAN / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
We understand why some might still have real concerns about the Tennessee Titans offensive line, but that unit made real strides after Bill Callahan. That bodes well for Cam Ward, especially now that he has Brian Daboll as his play-caller with a true No. 1 wide receiver in Carnell Tate. This is still going to be a below-average offense, but it should be much better than we saw this past year, and Ward will look like a franchise quarterback. Defensively, weāre even more optimistic as Robert Saleh is calling plays and hand-picked players like Keldric Faulk, Anthony Hill Jr., Alontae Taylor and Jermaine Johnson. Thereās a path to a league-average defense for Tennessee, putting seven wins on the table this season.
Kirby Lee-Imagn Images
Raider Nation should be elated about the arrival of Fernando Mendoza. While he might not have the physical tools to develop into an elite starting quarterback, he will provide the stability the Las Vegas Raiders have long coveted under center. Heās also someone who, when heās ready, will be able to get the football out quickly to Jalen Nailor, Tre Tucker and Brock Bowers. On top of that, the Raiders offensive line looks better with Kolton Miller and Jackson Powers-Johnson healthy and Tyler Linderbaum brought in. We arenāt as optimistic as the fan base about the Raidersā win total this season, but we do think competency can be the new standard in Las Vegas.
Kirby Lee-Imagn Images
The New York Jets have a legitimate shot at year-to-year improvement. Of course, that says a lot more about the club winning just 3 games in 2025 and looking like one of the worst NFL teams in the last five-plus years in the second half of the season. We really liked the Jets draft class, with edge rusher David Bailey projecting to be an excellent starter on an overhauled defense now featuring TāVondre Sweat, David Onyemata, Demario Davis, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Joseph Ossai and DāAngelo Ponds. Plus, if Geno Smith can perform even like a top-25 starter in this offense, the Jets might have a chance at six or even seven wins this fall.
Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images
One theme with some of the teams at the bottom of our 2026 NFL power rankings is a significant chunk of cap space devoted to players not on the roster. In the case of the Arizona Cardinals, they have $73.32 million in dead money. That already hamstrings Mike LaFleurās coaching staff, and itās made even more complicated by the fact that Jacoby Brissett will be the starting quarterback. On the bright side, Arizona remade the offensive line a bit this offseason with the additions of guards Chase Bisontis and Isaac Seumalo. Theyāll create some rushing lanes for Jeremiyah Love, who is a generational talent at running back. At a minimum, the core weaponry (Love, Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson) will make this a fun watch.
Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
The Miami Dolphins project to be the worst NFL team in 2026. Thatās the nature of a rebuild where you trade away Jaylen Waddle and carry a league-record $179.204 million in dead money; this upcoming season is all about building for the future. While weāre pessimistic about Miamiās chances of even winning five games, there is genuine excitement for what this offense can look like with Malik Willis and DeāVon Achane together. Weāve also got our eye on rookie Chris Bell recovering from an ACL tear, and what this Dolphins offensive line could look like if the coaching staff can get genuine buy-in from Kadyn Proctor.
