With the first pick in the second round of the 2026 WNBA Draft Monday evening, the Seattle Storm selected TCU forward and All-Big 12 First Team honoree Marta Suarez. Suarez, who was selected with the No. 16 overall pick and then traded to the Golden State Valkyries in a deal involving No. 8 overall pick Flau’jae Johnson, averaged 17.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists during her lone season with the Horned Frogs. The Spanish forward, who previously played at California before transferring to TCU, helped lead the team to a 32-6 overall record.
Suarez, who played in all 38 games during the 2025-26 season, helped lead the Horned Frogs to their second straight Elite Eight as well as their second consecutive Big 12 championship. The second of three TCU players drafted Monday evening, Suarez played in 140 games over her six-year collegiate career. The 6-foot-3 forward started her career at Tennessee, where she played three seasons before moving on to California. Suarez was a Golden Bear for two seasons, starting every game and guiding the team to the NCAA Tournament last season.
