Last week, it was revealed and confirmed by AggieYell (subscription required) insiders Jaxson Callaway and Joseph Hastings that 2027 five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, who is currently the No. 1-ranked OT in the cycle, took part in a home visit with the Aggie coaching staff after receiving a prediction to land with Texas A&M early last week.
However, the Miami Hurricanes, along with his other LSU and Georgia, remain the other programs in his top four list that will receive an official visit, which was confirmed by Matthews during his conversation with Joseph Hastings on Tuesday afternoon at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
After Matthews' extended visit to College Station during the annual Maroon & White Game on April 18, the blue-chip prospect reportedly developed a strong bond with OL coach Adam Cushing and the rest of the staff, and after watching four 2025 starting offensive linemen get selected in the NFL Draft, Texas A&M quickly became the school to watch.
Despite rumors that he could announce his commitment this month, Matthews confirmed that he does not intend to commit any time in the near future.
“Right now, I do want to take my OVs and after the OVs, I’m definitely gonna make it, like right after I take my last OV,” Matthews stated. “I’m taking four to my top four of LSU, Georgia, Miami and A&M. So, I’m taking those and then, yeah, I’ll make my decision."
While his official visit date has not been confirmed, Hastings believes the Aggies will likely host Matthews during the weekend of June 5-7 or June 12-14, after he visits Miami at the end of the month. It's important to note that the recruiting dead period begins on June 22.
Mark Matthews' top four schools are Texas A&M, Miami, LSU, and Georgia.
