The Wolverines gained another big time commitment in their 2027 class on Saturday afternoon, as four-star running back Tyson Robinson announced his pledge to Michigan.
Robinson â who is a 5-foot-9, 195-pounder from Jackson, Mississippi â chose the Wolverines over other schools like Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, Arizona State, Miami, Mississippi State and more.
Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford has been leading the charge in this recruitment for nearly a year at this point, offering Robinson a scholarship back last June. He took a pair of visits to Ann Arbor this spring and will also take his official visit the weekend of June 19.
Robinson had great things to say about Alford coming out of his most recent spring visit.
âCoach Alford is like a father figure thatâs going to be a hard coach,â Robinson told Rivalsâ Chad Simmons ($). âWe talk about a lot of things, not just football. I like that about him.
âHe makes it feel good and like home too. Around him, I feel comfortable, and he tells me Iâm his No. 1 priority.â
Robinson has the same adviser â Adam McCann â as current Wolverines running back Savion Hiter. That familiarity with the Michigan football program certainly helped get this recruitment across the finish line.
âWith his goals and what he wants to do, with the teaching that Tony does, it is like a match made in heaven, like how it was for Savion,â McCann previously told On3âs Ethan McDowell ($). âHeâs not chasing the big bucks, heâs not chasing the big logos, heâs chasing relationships.â
Tyson Robinson considered schools like Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, Arizona State, Miami, and Mississippi State before committing to Michigan.

247Sportsâ Andrew Ivins scouted Robinson and wrote this about him back in January:
-Compact runner with an impressive blend of quickness, balance and agility.
-Can beat defenders to the perimeter with his speed, but has the feet and feel to work between the tackles as he follows blockers and bounces from lane to lane.
-Vision allows him to identify cutback opportunities early.
-Core strength leads to broken tackles in the open field.
-Slippery in the screen game, but can also challenge defenses on wheel and angle routes.
-Will step on the pedal when he finds a crease, but another gear would result in more touchdowns.
-Projects as a potential multi-year contributor at the Power Four level that could thrive as a change-of-pace option with his burst and creativity.
Michigan now has 11 committed prospects in the 2027 class, with seven of them being four-stars. Robinson is the first running back in the Wolverines in this recruiting cycle, with other targets still up for grabs in four-star Nigel Newkirk, three-star Lundon Hampton and three-star TJ Lewis.
The Wolverines are on a major hot streak on the recruiting trail, landing four commitments in the span of four days. It all started with four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell on Wednesday. Four-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad followed suit on Thursday, and three-star safety Charles Woodson Jr. announced his commitment on Friday.
Robinson is ranked No. 8 from the state of Mississippi, No. 14 at the running back position and No. 212 overall in his class on the Rivals Industry Ranking. This past fall, Robinson had 165 carries for 1,050 yards, as well as 24 catches for 295 yards, scoring nine total touchdowns in the process.
