Yes, the 2026 NFL Draft just ended, but we’re already looking to 2027 for the Seattle Seahawks!
With the 32nd pick (again!) in the 2027 SB Nation NFL Mock draft, the Seattle Seahawks select Maraad Watson, Defensive Lineman, Texas Longhorns.
Personally, I am all about the trenches, so this pick would make me happy. If I were the general manager of the Seahawks, I would likely draft either an offensive lineman or defensive line with the first two picks in every draft. Both the offensive and defensive lines are the foundation of a team. The offensive line protects the quarterback and opens lanes for running backs. Meanwhile, the defensive line will stop the running back, get to the quarter back, or open up gaps for a blitzer to get after the quarterback or runner. I am not the general manager, thankfully; that is John Schneider’s job. This mock draft selecting Watson, though, is a selection that I would likely make.
Watson is a multi-layered threat along the defensive line, someone that Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald would love. In his two years of collegiate play, he has averaged 26.5 total tackles and 1 sack per year, had defended a pass, and 1.5 tackles for loss per year. He is not just a big body to fill the gap. At 6’3 and 313lbs, he’s quite athletic for his size, and can not only act as a wall, but a threat to get into the backfield. Watson made his presence known in the ACC at Syracuse in 2024, and in the SEC at Texas in 2025. He pushes back opposing linemen into the quarterback’s lap, pressures the quarterback, and will even chase after the ball carrier, showing his dedication to stop the opposition from scoring.
Maraad Watson is a defensive lineman from the Texas Longhorns, and he is considered a top pick for the Seahawks due to his potential to strengthen their defensive line.
The Seahawks are expected to focus on the offensive and defensive lines, with an emphasis on drafting players who can protect the quarterback and enhance their defensive capabilities.

With the Seahawks drafting defensive lineman Deven Eastern from Minnesota at pick 242, continuing to add depth along the defensive line may prove fruitful for the Super Bowl champions. With Leonard Williams and Jarran Reed’s futures uncertain as they near retirement age for the NFL, finding players for them to pass the torch to is probably high on Macdonald and Schneiders list. A young core of Byron Murphy, Deven Eastern, Brandon Pili, Rylie Mills, J.R. Singleton, and Maraad Waston could help ensure everyone stays fresh and ready to attack opposing offensive lines. Not only that, Murphy, Mills, and Pili have already shown the ability to get into the pocket and pressure the quarterback. Watson with his violent hands, high motor, and ability to get into the pocket, he would be a great option to add to the defensive tackle rotation in Seattle.
