After Day 2 of the 2026 NFL draft, three Jaguars veterans may face uncertain roles. Notably, tight end Quintin Morris could be at risk due to the team's selection of Nate Boerkircher.
Following Day 2 of the 2026 NFL draft, which included the Jacksonville Jaguars making four selections, there are now three veterans on this team whose roles for the upcoming season may be in jeopardy.
As the 2025 season unfolded, Morris emerged as TE2 for the Jaguars, filling a blocking-first role. Well, at pick 56, the Jaguars selected Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher, who could push Morris for playing time.
In college, Boerkircher filled a blocking-heavy role and did so quite well. In 2025, he ranked 21st among all tight ends in PFF's run-blocking grade. Although he didn't see a ton of targets in the passing game, Boerkircher offers more upside in that regard than Morris does.
The addition of Boerkircher opens the door for more three tight end sets, but he could also take playing time away from Morris.
In Round 3, the Jaguars selected Oregon interior lineman Emmanuel Pregnon. Most of Pregnon's snaps have come at left guard, but he has right guard experience as well.
We saw just last summer that the Jaguars embraced competition along the offensive line, and there isn't any reason to think that won't continue, especially with Liam Coen being quite clear that the Jaguars have to improve in the run game..
