The Oklahoma Sooners' Red Team defeated the White Team 31-3 in their annual spring game on Saturday. Key players showcased their skills despite several absences due to injury.
The Oklahoma Sooners hosted their annual Red-White Spring Game on Saturday in Norman, with the Red Team defeating the White Team by a final score of 31-3 on Owen Field.
The Sooners followed a traditional scoring format in this game, and loaded up the Red Team with mostly starters, while the White Team featured mostly backups. In the first "game" action for Team 132 in 2026, the Red Team's offense looked crisp and physical running the ball, clearly putting an emphasis on doing so. On defense, many projected starters were out there on the Red Team, and it showed against the backups on the White Team offense.
OU had a number of key players who did not play in Saturday's game, due to injury or an over-abundance of caution, and a few more players who got limited action due to the same reasons. However, there were some names that took center stage in the spring game, showing out in front of the fans inside Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Here are three stars from Oklahoma's spring game.
Oklahoma's DeZephen Walker catches a pass during a Sooners football spring practice in Norman, Okla., Thursday, April 9, 2026.
True freshman running back DeZephen Walker was part of an impressive running back rotation on Saturday, and he might have been the game's MVP. Unofficially, he carried the ball eight times, totaling 81 yards and a touchdown for the Red Team. Walker showed good burst and speed behind the starting offensive line, and with Xavier Robinson and Tory Blaylock out, he's been getting a chance to prove himself this spring. He'll look to build on his performance, and keep fighting for carries in the RB room.
The final score was Red Team 31, White Team 3.
DeZephen Walker was one of the standout players, along with others who showcased their skills.
Some key players did not participate due to injuries or for precautionary reasons.

Redshirt-sophomore defensive lineman Danny Okoye is fighting to become the starting defensive end opposite Taylor Wein, and he had an excellent spring game. Okoye was all over the place for the Red Team, notching a few tackles for loss, and getting after White Team quarterbacks all afternoon. Now in his third season in Norman, Okoye has been projected as a breakout candidate on the edge by many this offseason. If he can put it all together, he can win the starting job in fall camp.

Unlike Walker and Okoye, senior defensive back Peyton Bowen isn't fighting for a starting spot this offseason, but is instead establishing himself as one of the new veteran leaders of the defense. As one of the starters on the field for the Red Team, he was his typical disruptive self at safety, and he notched an interception off of true freshman quarterback Bowe Bentley in the second half. OU needs Bowen to continue his ascension in 2026, and he got off to a good start on Saturday.
