3 takeaways from Alabama softball's series sweep vs. South Carolina

The Alabama Crimson Tide swept the South Carolina Gamecocks during a three-game set in Tuscaloosa this past weekend.

Alabama was able to bounce back in authoritative fashion following last weekend’s series loss vs. Tennessee. Star first baseman Brooke Wells was excellent during the Tide’s 3-2 victory over the Gamecocks on Thursday, as Alabama will look to keep things rolling prior to the SEC Tournament in Lexington next week.

Here are three takeaways from Alabama’s series sweep over South Carolina this weekend.

Brooke Wells stays hot, records home run Thursday

Wells was excellent to begin the series for the Tide on Thursday evening. The talented first baseman went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI, as Wells hit a towering home run in the in the third inning which put the Tide ahead 2-1.

Wells was quiet at the plate in games two and three against the Gamecocks, but the star was excellent on Thursday nonetheless.

Vic Moten and Jocelyn Briski dominate Friday

Moten and Briski have been widely regarded as two of the top pitchers in all of college softball this season. Moten recorded two strikeouts across six innings while surrendering just three hits on Friday, as Briski was able to secure Alabama’s series victory with a save to end the game.

The duo has been lights out for the Tide on a nightly basis this season, as Moten and Briski will undoubtedly need to be at their best throughout the SEC Tournament next week.
