The Akron City Series spring sports postseason features three key events this week: softball finals on May 12, baseball finals on May 14, and a track and field championship on May 16.
The Akron City Series continues its spring sports postseason championships this week with three events.
Ellet (11-8, 8-0) will meet Firestone (8-9, 6-2) in the softball final at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Firestone Stadium.
Firestone (9-5, 8-0) and Ellet (8-10, 8-1) will also meet in the baseball final at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at a site to be determined after last week's final at 7 17 Credit Union Park was rained out.
And then Saturday, May 16, the track and field championship meet will be contested at Ellet, with field events starting at 9 a.m. and running events starting at 10 a.m.
Here is a breakdown on the top softball and track and field teams.
Ellet defeated Firestone twice in the regular season, 12-0 on April 15 and 10-0 on April 27.
The Akron City Series softball finals will take place on May 12 at 5 p.m. at Firestone Stadium.
Firestone and Ellet will compete in the Akron City Series baseball finals on May 14 at 5 p.m.
The Akron City Series track and field championship is scheduled for May 16, with field events starting at 9 a.m. and running events at 10 a.m.
The location for the baseball finals of the Akron City Series is yet to be determined after last week's rainout.

Ellet is coached by Howard Leonard. Its starters are LF Kerra Eiseman, P Addy Lipply, SS Riley Kearns, 1B Keyli Myers, C Alivia Russell, 3B Cassidy Piotrowski, 2B Ava Conley, RF Mariah Peasner and CF Bella Lipply.
Firestone's coach is Betsy Barr. Its starters are P Bri Ellerson-Dyer, C Jane Barr, 1B Sydney Gaines, RF Sophia Cooper, SS Kyra Wyatt, DP Jocelyn Loeffler, LF Tabby Christman, 3B Sylvie Stark, CF Abby Young and 2B Kylie Cox.

Buchtel features Dwight Shade, who was fourth in the Division II state meet's 800 meters last season. Griffins boys coach William Graham also relies on returnees Qi'Ziah Marks, Terrence Decatur, Kylar Wilson and Jordan Holloway. Newcomer Donte Swain Jr. won City Series titles last season in the 100 and 200 while at East.
Firestone's boys team is led by coach Janelle Harris and athletes Mekhi Parmer, Emmanuel Roebuck, Cortland Francis, Aaron Skeriotis, Carter Garrett and Dakari Graf-Burr.
Ellet is experiencing a renaissance under coach Kevin Gorby. Trey Carter is ranked No. 1 in the long jump in Division II with a leap of 22-feet, 11-inches at a tri-meet with Holy Name and host Trinity this season. Ellet's other top boys are Cordell Downing, Jaloni Austin, Xzavier Isley, Maurice Smith, Matt Kramer, Jonez Ammons and Christian Mitchell.

Buchtel girls coach Shamikca Graham has three standout returnees in Miniya Mitchell, Jada Davis and DeVonnah Smith, who combined with then-senior Tianna Burton to win the 2024 Division II 800-meter relay title in a state-record 1:39.01. Look for Joslynne Bushner and Ahmara Scales to also be key contributors.
Harris is also Firestone's girls coach. The top Falcons athletes are Haley Moore, Jamyrah Swain, Trinity Williams, Kate Miller, Namya Hale, Aubrey Johnson and Aliza Blair.
