Saints’ Jordyn Tyson already questioned and he hasn’t played a down yet
Jordyn Tyson's injury history raises questions for the Saints before he even plays.
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected defensive tackle Albert Regis from Texas A&M in the second round of Day 2. He is expected to be a strong run defender and a key addition to the team's defensive line.
With their second selection on Day 2, the Jacksonville Jaguars added to the defensive tackle position, selecting Texas A&M's Albert Regis.
Here are four things to know about this addition.
Regis has been a very good run defender over his career. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein says that he should become a "run-stopping factor as a nose tackle."
The addition of Regis bolsters the Jaguars' already stout run defense rotation in the short-term. Defensive tackle is a position for Jacksonville that was short on depth entering this year's draft.
Beyond this season, he could be a longer-term answer at nose tackle, with DaVon Hamilton in the final year of his deal.
Last season, he ranked tied for 10th among all defensive tackles in Pro Football Focus' run stop rate metric.
For more on Regis' game from Zierlein, here is what he wrote in his pre-draft scouting report:
"Fifth-year senior with two years as a starter, Regis is built low, with girthy lowers and shorter arms. He’s a leverage monster who can function as a tree stump in the middle of the defense when he’s first in with his hands. He can post and peek as a two-gapper or drop low to fight off double-teams. He plays with good balance and is technically sound in block take-ons/disengagements. His rush is unimpressive and his lack of length will cause issues at times, but he’s tough, strong and consistent. Regis should become a run-stopping factor as a nose tackle."
