AI has taken over the world over the past year or so, and it doesn't look like there's any end in sight. Some love it, some hate it, and others are indifferent to it.
Regardless, it certainly seems like there will be some impact on the world, and the San Francisco 49ers want to be ahead of it. Recently speaking about what AI has done for him, general manager John Lynch said that if teams aren't using it, they're behind.
âIf you arenât using [AI], youâre already behind, and the cool thing is what we found is you donât need to be an expert,â Lynch said, per Vic Tafur of The Athletic. âJust like you at home planning a travel itinerary, you can just ask the thing, and it can spit out some pretty good things, some pretty good ideas.
âOur developers, I think weâre fortunate to be where we are, kind of at the epicenter of the innovation there. And weâve tried to take advantage of that, and I do think every team is probably using it in some form or fashion, and I think that will only increase as we move forward.â
He didn't go into much detail about exactly what he's using AI for. Perhaps he's using it to just put in some numbers, and it spits out something, or he's doing something else completely different. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see if this continues to be a strategy for teams around the league or if the 49ers are the only ones doing it.
John Lynch stated that teams not using AI for NFL Draft planning are already behind and highlighted its potential to generate valuable insights.
The San Francisco 49ers are leveraging AI to enhance their decision-making processes and stay ahead in the competitive landscape of the NFL.
If John Lynch's draft plan does not succeed, he may face criticism and trolling from fans and analysts regarding his decisions.
