The future of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk remains a topic of discussion ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Aiyuk's future with the team remains uncertain, and a trade is certainly a possibility as the weekend slowly approaches. 49ers general manager John Lynch spoke to reporters on Monday and said he's had discussions with teams about an Aiyuk trade.
On top of that, Lynch said there's a chance Aiyuk is traded this weekend; however, the odds aren't high.
"I've had some discussions. Do I think it's a high probability? Likely no. Is there a chance? Yeah, I think there's a chance," Lynch said on the chances of the team trading Aiyuk this weekend. "As for that whole dialogue, I think I was candid with you guys in saying that at the end of the season, it's likely that he played his last snap for us. We are all in concert on where we are going with Brandon."
The 49ers currently hold his rights as they are looking to trade the former All-Pro wide receiver. San Francisco hopes to gain valuable compensation; however, given his injuries, that may be a high price for certain teams.
Health has been a constant issue for the former Arizona State Sun Devils, and tension with the front office has only added to an already challenging situation.
The past two seasons for Aiyuk have been a far cry from his stellar play in his first four seasons. From 2020-23, he was productive and healthy, playing in 62 games and recording 269 receptions for 3,931 receiving yards, 25 touchdowns and averaged 63.4 yards per game.
Aiyuk's best season came in 2023, when he earned a spot on the Second-Team All-Pro. Aiyuk recorded career-highs in receiving yards (1,342) and averaged 83.9 yards per reception.
John Lynch mentioned that he has had discussions with teams regarding a potential trade for Brandon Aiyuk, but he believes the probability of a trade happening is low.
Yes, John Lynch indicated that there is a chance Aiyuk could be traded this weekend, although he emphasized that the odds are not high.
Trading Brandon Aiyuk could impact the 49ers' receiving corps and overall strategy as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season.
