7-round Rams mock draft: LA goes offense early, doubles up on OL

With the NFL draft taking place over the next three days, the Los Angeles Rams are set to undergo what could be the most important draft of the Sean McVay era. As they weigh the possibility of trading the future for the present, here's one final mock that would set the team up for success with and after Matthew Stafford.

Round 1, Pick 13: Makai Lemon, WR, USC

Lemon is the exact type of player the Rams need. Zone beater who can make plays with his feet. Return specialist, in case the Rams have lost faith in Xavier Smith. Strong third-down option. There's really not much more to say. Lemon is a playmaker.

Round 2, Pick 61: Jake Slaughter, C, Florida

While most of the talk regarding retirements and departures is focused on Stafford and Davante Adams, Coleman Shelton is about to turn 31 and is on the final year of his deal. If Shelton does depart, that could be the break the Rams need to re-sign the rest of the offensive line.

Regardless, Slaughter is one of the best centers in the draft. He provides immediate depth at a position where it's hard to come by, and he could be a starter as soon as next year. Personally, I think Slaughter has All-Pro potential. This could be how the Rams make up for their miss on Creed Humphrey.

Round 3, Pick 93: Deontae Lawson, LB, Alabama

Athletic and lanky, Lawson could be the key to fixing the linebacker room's issues with defending the pass. Providing and the freedom to play their game, Lawson's explosiveness and ball skills are traits the Rams need. He also does not mind flying towards the point of attack, the exact type of tool Chris Shula could use to disguise coverages.
