Nine athletes from Frankfort, Keyser, Allegany, and Fort Hill won individual championships at the Morgantown Invitational. Keyser's Cole Cook, Deacon Stanislawczyk, and Dom Crawford were among the gold medalists, while Frankfort's Bryson Grady and Bailey Ferguson also secured victories.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Nine locals from Frankfort, Keyser, Allegany and Fort Hill won individual championships at the Morgantown Invitational on Saturday.
Keyser had three boys gold medalists in Cole Cook in the discus (148' 11"), Deacon Stanislawczyk in the pole vault (11') and Dom Crawford in the long jump (20' 9.75").
Frankfort's Bryson Grady won the 300-meter run in a time of 43.18, and Gavin McDonald took first in the 1600m in 4:29.45.
Allegany's Wade Napier topped the field in the 400m, registering a 51.47, and Casey Martz of Fort Hill heaved the shot put 51' 5.75" to win the event.
In the girls field, Frankfort's Bailey Ferguson won the 1600m in a time of 5:14, and Allegany's Rylee Bauer was first in the discus with a throw of 104' 7".
Morgantown won both team competitions.
The Mohigan boys paced the field with a score of 146. Frankfort and Keyser finished second and third with 123 and 88 points, respectively.
Allegany (43) took sixth and Fort Hill (38) was seventh.
The Morgantown girls logged 109 points. Allegany was fourth (76.5), Keyser placed sixth (45), Frankfort came in eighth (36) and Fort Hill took ninth (30).
Twenty-four other area boys recorded top-eight finishes.
Doing so from Frankfort were Braydn Tyler (100m, third, 11:42; 200m, sixth, 23.39), Keiton Nester (400m, second, 51.62; 100m, sixth, 11.74), Van Ritchie (200m, second, 22.79), Grady (110m hurdles, third, 16.89), Carson McBee (100m hurdles, fourth, 17.65; 300m hurdles, fourth, 45.53), McDonald (3200m, fourth, 9:36.03), Alyn Weaver (long jump, fourth, 18' 10.75"), Landon Hartley (400m, fifth, 52.89), Kycin Waites (110m hurdles, fifth, 17.73; high jump, seventh, 5' 6") and Johnny Jackson (1600m, eighth, 4:42.46).
Keyser's top placers were Luca Altobello (3200m, second, 9:23.84; 800m, seventh, 2:03.50), Braylen Blowe (pole vault, fourth, 9'; long jump, sixth, 18' 8"), Cam Owens (300m hurdles, fifth, 45.56; 110m hurdles, seventh, 18.41), Cook (shot put, fifth, 44' 8.75"), Grayson Lambka (high jump, sixth, 5' 6") and Braylon McGreevy (discus, seventh, 126' 10").
Allegany had seven: Jacob Cage (300m hurdles, second, 44.82), Trevin Cox (long jump, third, 19' 1.5"; high jump, fourth, 5' 8"), Hayden Linaburg (pole vault, third, 9' 6"), Sully Watkins (discus, sixth, 126' 11"; shot put, seventh, 42' 9"), Dustin Long (3200m, seventh, 9:58.56) and Aidyn McKenzie (200m, eighth, 23.69).
Fort Hill's Neek Taylor (200m, third, 22.81), Austin Zembower (shot put, fourth, 45' 4"), Martz (discus, fifth, 132' 8"), Jachai St. Surin (300m hurdles, sixth, 45.89), Kaileb Combs (300m hurdles, seventh, 46.00) and Easton Peters (discus, eighth, 126' 2") finished in the top eight.
Morgantown and Washington combined to win eight of the 10 relays across the boys and girls events.
Frankfort had four boys relays place second or third. Its 4x100 (Eli Hesse, Noah Weaver, Tyler, Landon Hartley), 4x200 (Hesse, Tyler, Nester, Ritchie) and 4x110 shuttle hurdle (Grady, Waites, Alyn Weaver, Ritchie) teams finished second, and its 4x400 (Hartley, Dawson Arbogast, Hesse, Ritchie) relay was third.
Keyser had two teams place third, 4x200m (Crawford, Blowe, Theriot Simone, Grayson Lambka) and 4x110m shuttle hurdle (Owens, Ian Smith, Stanislawczyk, Matthew Furey), and two fourth, 4x400 (Benje Mele, Altobello, Ashtin Thomas, Lambka) and 4x800 (Mele, Austin Umstot, Elijah Strother, Altobello).
On the girls side, Allegany had seven competitors finish top eight: Ryleigh Nelson (100m hurdles, second, 16.39; 300m hurdles, second, 50.84), Myia Miller (long jump, second, 15' 9.25"; 300m hurdles, third, 51.60; discus, sixth, 87' 8"), Surae Stewart (shot put, second, 32' 8"; discus, third, 92' 7"), Briley Linaburg (pole vault, second, 10'), Bauer (shot put, fifth, 30' 10.75"), Adaline Humphrey (pole vault, fifth, 7' 6") and Madison Parks (long jump, fifth, 14' 7.50").
Keyser had six in Ava Barrick (800m, fourth, 2:27.10; 1600m, sixth, 5:35.72), Conleigh Burton (pole vault, third, 9"; 400m, fifth, 1:03.78), Kerri Wittman (300m hurdles, fifth, 52.31), Celia Cole (pole vault, seventh, 7'), Breawna McGreevy (pole vault, eighth, 7') and Dalia Riggleman (long jump, eighth, 14' 5.5").
Ferguson (800m, second, 2:23.84; 3200m, third, 11:10.86), Paisley Raines (3200m, sixth, 11:50.92) and Niya Lantz (100m, seventh, 13.52) were top finishers from Frankfort, and Sadie Hamilton (100m hurdles, third, 16.44; 300m hurdles, fourth, 51.66; long jump, seventh, 14' 6.25") and Kylee Rice (100m, fifth, 13.43; 200m, sixth, 27.61; 400m, seventh, 1:03.87) finished highly for Fort Hill.
Keyser had three girls relays finish in the top four in its 4x200 (Keyser (Burton, Wittman, Riggleman, Barrick) unit that placed third, and its 4x400 (Burton, Wittman, Hayleigh Haggerty, Barrick) and 4x102.5 shuttle hurdle (Wittman, Evelyn Cole, Riggleman, Ashlyn Saville) teams that took fourth.
Fort Hill's 4x100 (Harmani Palimisano, Rice, Arriana Sanchez, Gracie Galliher) and 4x200 (Hamilton, Palmisano, Haylee Raines, Sanchez) relays were fifth.
Keyser's gold medalists included Cole Cook in the discus, Deacon Stanislawczyk in the pole vault, and Dom Crawford in the long jump.
Bryson Grady won the 300-meter run with a time of 43.18 seconds, while Bailey Ferguson won the 1600m in 5:14.
Wade Napier from Allegany won the 400m with a time of 51.47, and Casey Martz from Fort Hill won the shot put with a throw of 51' 5.75".
Rylee Bauer won the discus with a throw of 104' 7", while Cole Cook won the discus with a distance of 148' 11".
