The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly want a future first-round pick for A.J. Brown, but will the Patriots give it to them?
Greg Bedard doesn't believe so.
ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday all but guaranteed a Patriots-Brown trade will happen after June 1, and noted the "likely" deal probably would include a first-round pick in 2027 or 2028. However, while appearing on 98.5 The Sports Hub's "Felger & Mazz" on Tuesday, Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal offered a different take.
"As far as the trade compensation, what I was told is that the Patriots were around a second-round draft pick compensation for A.J. Brown," Bedard said. " ... I could see it being either a 2028 first-round pick, which I would be fine with."
Earlier in the week, Bedard advised the Patriots against trading for Brown. He also said selecting a receiver, like Denzel Boston, early in the 2026 NFL Draft from the Brown sweepstakes.
The Patriots are reportedly considering a trade that may include a first-round pick, likely in 2027 or 2028.
The Eagles value A.J. Brown highly and are seeking a first-round pick as part of the trade to reflect his worth.
The trade is expected to happen after June 1, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
