Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks had some choice words for Oklahoma City Thunder superstar guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after Game 2.
Brooks was not happy with the officiating on Wednesday night, taking displeasure with the whistles that benefited the 2025 NBA MVP.
"[Gilgeous-Alexander is] a little frail, and that's what the refs are going to call," Brooks said. "I got to be smarter about it, but this is the playoffs. It's a man's game.
"Like, I used to watch this back when Michael Jordan was playing or whoever else, whenĀ LeBron [James]Ā was younger. This is physical basketball. I don't get why all the dropping and the falling and the flopping and the flailing and all this stuff is allowed when we get to the playoffs. Leave that for the [regular] season for the fans. This is about who's the better team, who's a more with-it team. Don't decide the games on no free throws."
The Suns team was not happy with the officiating, as Devin Booker also publicly complainedĀ about the officiating after the loss. Booker took aim at the officiating, specifically at refereeĀ James Williams.
Dillon Brooks called Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 'a little frail' and criticized the officiating that benefited him.
Brooks believes that the officiating allows too much flopping and that it should focus on physical play, as seen in past eras of basketball.
Brooks referenced watching players like Michael Jordan and LeBron James, stating that today's game should be more physical and not influenced by free throw calls.

"In my 11 years, I haven't called a ref out by name, but James [Williams] was terrible tonight through and through," Booker said. "It's bad for the sport, bad for the integrity of the sport. People are going to start viewing this as a WWE if they're not held responsible."
The Thunder defeated the Suns to take a commanding 2-0 series lead. The series now shifts to the Valley of the Sun for Games 3 and 4.
A fine is likely to come for Booker and possibly Brooks ahead of Saturday's Game 3. Tip-off is set for 12:30 pm PT.
