It appears that the Aaron Rodgers saga and his potential connection to the Arizona Cardinals is coming to a close. He is expected to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.
According to multiple reports, Rodgers was traveling to Pittsburgh to meet with the team and, while a contract had not been agreed to, the expectation is that he will sign a deal that will have him playing for the Steelers in 2026.
While Rodgers, who has played 21 years, was still pondering his 2026, because of connections to the Cardinals' coaching staff and their underwhelming quarterback room of Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew, Kedon Slovis and rookie Carson Beck, talk around the Internet was about how the Cardinals could try and pursue him.
That chatter had "no legs," according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
The Steelers placed the unrestricted free agent tag on Rodgers, which would pay him a little more than $15 million in 2026, but whatever deal he likely signs will surely be for more than that.
Rodgers led the Steelers to a 10-7 record, a division title and playoff berth. He passed for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
There was never any reality to the talk of Rodgers playing for the Cardinals, but it did make for some interesting offseason content. Once he signs his contract, it will be back to normal.
