"Initially, just thinking like how I am going to fit into the team. I think I am pretty versatile and adaptable so I think I can play anywhere. Me, confidently, I was not worried about picks 14 to three... I have been watching AD (Anthony Davis) for a long long time. Trae Young, even when he was still at Oklahoma. I know a couple of guys there," Dybantsa said.
Obviously, a lot of fans were expecting the Utah Jazz to come out and win the NBA Draft Lottery to secure Dybantsa. It's because he would be able to stay in Utah where BYU is situated. There is still a very realistic chance that a trade happens or he falls to the second pick of the NBA Draft. But, it does not seem like landing with the Wizards is a bad thing for him.
Dybantsa gets to reunite with a former high school rival in Tre Johnson. He also gets to be mentored by great talents like Davis and Young in competitive settings. More than that, there will be a lot of reasons to stay given that their young core of Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly is set to develop together.
Whether it's on the Wizards or any other team, Dybantsa will be an amazing player regardless.
