Tyson Fury has declared he will retire again if his next fight isn't against Anthony Joshua, following his recent victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov. Despite Joshua being present at the match, he has not signed any agreements for a bout.

Tyson Fury stepped out of retirement on Saturday night to cruise to victory against Arslanbek Makhmudov on Saturday night (highlights here). But if his next fight isnāt against his longtime rival Anthony Joshua, he says heāll hang his gloves right back up and quit the sport again.
Joshua was ringside at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Furyās win, and āThe Gypsy Kingā attempted to coax him into a faceoff or verbal altercation, neither of which worked. While Netflix has been advertising a fall fight like itās a done deal, āAJā hasnāt signed anything and wasnāt willing to do any promo for a match he hadnāt agreed to.
That led Fury to suggest Joshua was setting up a duck.
āOpenly surprised. He was brought here tonight ringside for a reason, to get in that ring and make a face off and get the fight done,ā Fury said at the post-fight press conference. āIāve signed. I signed months ago. I donāt know if he signed.ā
āTen years in the making and after all this time thereās still uncertainty about if this fightās going to happen next. He was very evasive and didnāt give no definitive answers. I know one thing. He wasnāt saying yes. In my opinion he didnāt want no smoke. He didnāt want it. He didnāt look like he wanted it. He was just shell-shocked. Didnāt know what to say.ā
āIf it isnāt Anthony Joshua next, Iām not interested in boxing,ā Fury insisted. āIāll eat a thousand Easter eggs, go up to [490 pounds] and Iām out. Not interested. Itās either him or Iām gone again. Iām not interested in up and comers, not interested in people trying to prove a point over me. I donāt care about rankings, I donāt care about belts. I only care about AJ now. Thatās the defining fight for British boxing. Itās either going to happen or itās not.ā
āI donāt want to put any deadlines on it. He either wants to do it or he doesnāt. Itās now or never.ā
The ānowā of it all seems to be the biggest problem after Anthony Joshua was in a horrific car accident in Africa that saw two of his friends and coaches killed. That happened at the end of December, and Joshua says its still to early for him to commit to a return.
āI was just in a serious incident maybe four months ago,ā Joshua said on the Netflix broadcast of Fury vs. Makhmudov. āSo I need to really check out whatās going on with my return to the ring. But Iām here. Iām keeping my eye in the game. Thereās real stuff happening in my life. Iām not ducking no one. I know what my job is. I know what Iām here to do.
āBut thereās just real stuff happening in my life that I also got to attend to.ā
