Las Vegas Aces superstar Aâja Wilson has a legitimate argument as the greatest player in WNBA history. Still not even 30 years old, Wilson has accumulated four WNBA MVP trophies and three league titles.
This offseason, following the WNBAâs transformative new collective bargaining agreement being ratified, Wilson a three-year $5 million supermax contract that will keep her in the desert for the foreseeable future.
On Wednesday, at the Acesâ media day, Wilson revealed what motivates her to keep dominating.
âThe real answer? I like making people mad. I like proving people wrong,â she said. âI like to let people just burn because me and my team are doing great or they never couldâve imagined me or my team in this situation. Thatâs the real answer. The politically correct answer? The youth. The kids make me go!â
Wilson has previously discussed her place in the WNBAâs history, while crediting others who helped get the league to where it is today.
âIt wasnât a hit at me, because Iâm going to do me regardless,â Wilson told Time. âIâm going to win this MVP, Iâll win a gold medal, yâall canât shake my rĂ©sumĂ©. It was more so, letâs not lose the recipe. Letâs not lose the history. It was erased for a minute. And I donât like that. Because we have tons of women that have been through the grimiest of grimy things to get the league where it is today.â
