Alabama softball continues to prove why itâs one of the premier programs in college softball, and on Friday, the Crimson Tide added even more hardware to the trophy case.
The Southeastern Conference announced its postseason awards, and Alabama was front and center once again. Junior ace Jocelyn Briski was named SEC Pitcher of the Year, while head coach Patrick Murphy earned SEC Coach of the Year honors for a league-record sixth time.
And honestly, if youâve watched this Alabama team all season long, neither award should surprise anybody.
Briski has been nothing short of dominant in the circle this year. Every single time Alabama needed a big-time performance, she delivered. Big games, hostile environments, pressure moments, it never seemed to matter. She pitched with confidence, toughness, and the kind of calm presence that championship teams are built around.
What makes this award even more special is the history behind it. Briski becomes the eighth Alabama player to win SEC Pitcher of the Year, which is the most of any program in conference history. That alone tells you everything you need to know about the standard Alabama softball continues to uphold year after year. Sheâs also the first Crimson Tide player to win the award since Montana Fouts did it back in 2021.
And letâs be real... Briski earned every bit of it.
She has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the entire country this season, and sheâs a massive reason Alabama has been one of the top teams in the SEC from start to finish. Her ability to attack hitters, limit mistakes, and control games completely changed the ceiling of this team. There were multiple weekends this season where she simply refused to let Alabama lose.
Meanwhile, Murphy continues to show why heâs one of the greatest coaches the sport has ever seen.
In an era where college athletics changes constantly with the transfer portal, NIL, roster turnover, and nonstop pressure in the SEC, Murphy just keeps winning. Year after year. Team after team. Standard after standard.
This latest Coach of the Year honor gives him six total SEC Coach of the Year awards, the most in conference history. He previously won the award in 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2019, and now he adds another one to an already legendary résumé.
What makes this season even more impressive is that Alabama wasnât expected by many people outside the program to be this dominant. The Crimson Tide entered the year with questions, but Murphy once again found a way to bring this team together and turn it into a legitimate championship contender.

Thatâs what great coaches do.
Alabama softball isnât built on hype. Itâs built on consistency, development, toughness, and culture. This program continues to reload instead of rebuild, and these awards are proof of that.
Now, with postseason play rolling on, the Crimson Tide has even bigger goals ahead.
And with Jocelyn Briski dealing in the circle and Patrick Murphy leading the way in the dugout, Alabama fans have every reason to believe this team can make a very deep run.
Roll Tide.
