The Boston Red Sox's bats have been ice-cold on their current homestand, and that trend continued on Wednesday against the New York Yankees.
After getting shut out by the Yankees at Fenway Park for the first time since 2020 on Tuesday, the Red Sox were nearly blanked again. They didn't score until they were down to their last out, managing just one run on five hits and two walks in their 4-1 loss to New York.

Boston has now scored two runs or fewer in five of its last six games, going 2-4 during the homestand and dropping the team's record to 9-15. The team's offensive woes have frustrated Alex Cora, who revealed some frustration after Wednesday's loss.
"We still have to be better... We gotta score... Where we at right now, it's been tough the whole homestand," Cora said during his postgame press conference. "We've gotta be better. Everybody here believes we have a good team. Good teams have to find a way to score runs against good pitching."
The Red Sox will try to do that against Cam Schlittler and salvage their homestand with a win on Thursday before heading out on a six-game road trip.
