Now in his eighth season managing the Boston Red Sox, Alex Cora has a lot of influence and sway in the organization. He's a big reason why they signed Alex Bregman last year, for example, after advocating for the Red Sox to add the All-Star third baseman.
During Cora's appearance on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show" on Thursday morning, he was asked about his role during the offseason and his input on the team's roster construction.
"We talk about in the offseason as far as deals and all that stuff. Potential deals, trades and all that," Cora said. "Then when it comes down to spring training, obviously you have all the pieces. We sit down and we go over what's the best roster for us to deploy."
Cora also spoke about his level of communication with Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow.
"Me and Bres, we in touch, we always talk about it. Especially in the offseason with every possible trade, every possible free agent acquisition, talking to players, Zoom, all that," Cora added. "So yeah, I'm very involved."
