Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Eli Junior Kroupi opened the scoring in the 17th minute after he turned in Truffert’s deflected cross at the back post to give the Cherries the lead.
Arsenal could have responded immediately after Kai Havertz got onto Declan Rice’s corner, but he headed just wide before Gabriel Magalhaes made a crucial block to deny Kroupi a second at the other end.
In the 34th minute, the Gunners were awarded a penalty after the ball struck the arm of Christie in the area.
Viktor Gyokeres stepped up for the stop-kick and converted beyond Djordje Petrovic.
Moments later, Evanilson could’ve given the visitors the lead, but his left-footed strike was kept out by David Raya.
Shortly after the restart, Raya almost gifted Bournemouth the lead after his failed clearance struck Evanilson, but the ball bounced wide.
In the 65th minute, Gyokeres thought he had given Arsenal the lead after he found the back of the net, but he was denied by the offside flag.
Minutes later, Rice saw his long-range effort tipped over the bar by Petrovic.
In the 74th minute, Alex Scott fired the Cherries ahead after he teed up with Evanilson at the edge of the area before sending Raya the wrong way.
At the other end, Gyokered could’ve restored parity for the hosts after Petrovic spilt the ball to him, but his deflected effort flew over the bar.
In the closing stages of the game, Gyokeres had two chances to draw Arsenal level but couldn’t hit the target on both occasions.
Arsenal have suffered a big blow in their title push and are nine points above Manchester City, who still have two games in hand.
