Miami has been kind to City Kickboxing fighters in recent years.
Alexander Volkanovski claimed the vacant featherweight title last year at the Kaseya Center, defeating Diego Lopes in front of a lively crowd.
This past weekend, Carlos Ulberg added to that success, stopping Jiri Prochazka in the same venue to bring another belt back to Australasia.
But while Ulberg walked away with the light heavyweight title, UFC 327 wasn’t a perfect night for him and his team due to an earlier setback on the card.

On Monday, Carlos Ulberg gave an update on his injury, mentioning that he’s heading to Las Vegas later this week for scans to figure out what’s going on.
Featherweight champion and fellow City Kickboxing teammate Alexander Volkanovski is confident he already knows the answer just by watching the footage.
Similar to sports medicine doctor Brian Sutterer’s analysis of the incident in Miami, ‘The Great’ is certain Ulberg will need most of the year to recover from an ACL injury.
“You need six months post-surgery… Yeah, I could have bet my b—- on it,” Volkanovski said on his YouTube channel. “It’s just typical of that motion, of where you are, of the way he moved back… That’s typical ACL. I’ll be very surprised if it’s not ACL.
“Maybe there’s other stuff as well because he had to keep fighting while the leg has given out. That’s the thing, it’s going to need surgery. It’s definitely ACL. I’m quite confident.”
The new light heavyweight champion isn’t a medical expert, but his coach sees things differently.
Eugene Bareman thinks Ulberg’s injury isn’t as bad as it seems, based on how he was moving around at Saturday night’s afterparty.
