The Las Vegas Raiders didn't give Ashton Jeanty enough help as a rookie.
In flashes, it was clear how talented the running back out of Boise State is. But because of a lack of quality line play or supporting cast, Jeanty was too often hung out to dry.
This season, things should be better. The Raiders have made a lot of improvements.
That starts, as you'd hope for an RB, along the offensive line.
"The Raiders, even amid more changes in coaching and at quarterback, know this is a problem," ESPN's Ben Solak wrote as part of a new article on Friday. "They tried to solve it by giving Tyler Linderbaum $81 million guaranteed. Linderbaum is an asset as a puller, both on runs and in the screen game. His presence should elevate the floor of the group -- but he might not be the only new face. Two of John Spytek's draft picks who barely played last season -- guard Caleb Rogers and tackle  -- will challenge for starting jobs, as will rookie third-rounder Trey Zuhn III."
Ashton Jeanty struggled with a lack of quality line play and support from his teammates during his rookie season.
The Raiders have made significant improvements to their lineup, which should provide better support for Jeanty this season.
Ashton Jeanty is a talented running back who played college football at Boise State before being drafted by the Raiders.

Solak goes further than just the line, though. He recognizes that the new coaching staff is also going to be a boon.
Klint Kubiak comes from the Seahawks, where they showed they were quite capable of running the football to win games.
"New head coach Klint Kubiak has consistently relied on formations with additional blockers -- not just multiple tight ends but also fullbacks -- to create stronger points of attack," Solak writes. "Consider that 49% of Jeanty's carries last season were out of 11 personnel, well above the league average of 41% -- and those snaps can get tricky in Las Vegas because tight end Brock Bowers is not an impactful blocker. Under Kubiak, expect to see more 12 and 13 personnel, more under-center formations and the inclusion of free agent acquisition FB Connor Heyward. That's all good news for a running back looking for a jolt."
The reality is that Jeanty is going to be the top dog in this backfield, and he deserves that role.
He simply needs a little more space to operate in, and it seems like this season, he should get that.
