MIAMI â Ronda Rosey is back after almost 10 years away from MMA and returns to competition later this month, evoking a wide range of emotions and opinions with her comeback, including those of former rival Amanda Nunes.
Nunes had her rivalry with Rousey in 2016, which ended with Nunes winning in devastating fashion in her first UFC women's bantamweight title defense and sending Rousey into retirement. Also set to make a return from her own retirement, Nunes is happy to see Rousey do the same â even if it's not in the UFC.
"Honestly, I don't see anybody losing here, you know what I mean?" Nunes told MMA Junkie. "Ronda Rousey is back, and she's going to fight Gina (Carano). This is great for women's MMA. This is great for all of us."
Rousey makes her return in the main event of MVP's first MMA event, which streams live on Netflix on May 16 from Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. Rousey takes on women's MMA pioneer and former Strikeforce champion Gina Carano.

Nunes was expected to make her return this past January against current UFC champ Kayla Harrison in the co-main event of UFC 324. Unfortunately, Harrison suffered a neck injury that required surgery, and the fight was canceled. UFC CEO Dana White assured the promotion will rebook the fight once Harrison is fit to compete.
Rousey and Harrison, who were once teammates on the U.S. Olympic judo team, have been feuding online and in the media ever since the Carano fight was announced in February. Nunes couldn't care less about what's being said but sees their back-and-forth as a good thing for women's MMA.
"I don't know what is going on with Kayla. I don't care," Nunes said. "I don't know what is going on. I just want a date. I want Kayla focusing on a date, to give me a date. I want to get in there and face her, though, you know what I mean? Whatever she has outside with whatever, I don't care, you know? So, I don't see anything horrible here. I see, like, great, Ronda Rousey is coming back, and she's going to fight. Everybody's going to watch, and me and Kayla hopefully soon, too. This is a women's MMA win, and I'm happy about it."
Ronda Rousey's return fight against Gina Carano is scheduled for May 16.
Amanda Nunes expressed that Ronda Rousey's return is great for women's MMA and believes no one is losing in this situation.
Ronda Rousey's fight will be streamed live on Netflix.
