Amazonas stay perfect in Série C; Anápolis claim first win

Amazonas secured their fourth win in four Serie C matches by defeating Santa Cruz 1-0 at Arena de Pernambuco this Sunday (26). On the same day, Anápolis earned their first victory in the competition: they beat Figueirense 3-1 at Jonas Duarte.

The result kept the team from Amazonas in first place with 12 points. The side is closely followed by Brusque, who reached ten points after beating Confiança-SE 2-1 at Augusto Bauer.

The team from Goiás ended a run of three defeats, got some breathing room in the standings, and moved out of the relegation zone. With three points, they overtook two opponents who have just one point each: Itabaiana-SE, thrashed 4-1 by Paysandu at Etelvino Mendonça, and Ferroviária-SP, who host Guarani at 8 p.m. this Monday (27) at Fonte Luminosa — also today, fellow Rio Grande do Sul sides Caxias and Ypiranga face off at 8 p.m. at Centenário.

Also on Sunday (26), Ituano-SP beat Maringá-PR 4-1 at Novelli Júnior; meanwhile, Barra-SC and Inter de Limeira-SP drew 2-2 at Arena Barra.

On Saturday (25), Maranhão-MA also recorded a 2-1 win over Volta Redonda-RJ at Castelão. It was the same scoreline as Floresta-CE’s victory over Botafogo-PB at Almeidão.
