Can Mumbai Indians still qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs after their recent win?

Joel Embiid struggled in his playoff debut at Madison Square Garden, scoring only 14 points in the 76ers' 137-98 loss to the Knicks. Despite making 8 of 9 free throws, Embiid's shooting performance was disappointing.
As expected, Knicks fans booed, heckled and jeered Joel Embiid throughout his first playoff game at Madison Square Garden since he emerged as a full-blown sports villain there during a hyper-tense 2024 series.
And in Monday nightâs Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Embiid didnât do much to silence his critics.
Embiid struggled in his Philadelphia 76ersâ 137-98 loss to the Knicks, managing only 14 points on 3-of-11 shooting, four rebounds and an assist in 25 minutes.
The Knicksâ center duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson held up against Embiid, despite them both getting into early foul trouble.
Embiid finished 8-of-9 from the free-throw line but never found much rhythm from the field, shooting just 1-of-6 during a first quarter in which he missed a lay-up. He went 0-for-2 from 3-point range.
He finished as a -24 and was outplayed by the Knicksâ stars, including Jalen Brunson, who scored 35 points in 31 minutes, and Towns, who finished with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, six rebounds and six assists.
Embiid rankled Knicks fans two postseasons ago during a first-round series in which the 7-foot center engaged in multiple controversial plays â none bigger than a flagrant foul in which he pulled Robinson to the ground.
Despite being less than three months removed from left knee surgery and dealing with Bellâs palsy, Embiid averaged 33.0 points, 10.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game during that 2024 series, which the Knicks won in six games.
Knicks fans clearly hadnât forgotten what went down two years ago.
They booed Embiid the loudest during Mondayâs pregame introductions. They chanted, ahem, âBleep Embiidâ throughout the night. They erupted when Embiid tripped up Josh Hart in transition, resulting in a first-quarter foul for the 76ers star.
In Game 1, Joel Embiid scored 14 points, shot 3-of-11 from the field, had four rebounds, and one assist.
Knicks fans booed, heckled, and jeered Joel Embiid throughout the game, contributing to a tense atmosphere.

Embiid shot just 3-of-10 from the field in the first half and went into the break with 12 points, three rebounds and an assist.
He added just two more points via free throws before checking out at the 6:03 mark of the third quarter, with his Sixers trailing, 93-64.
The score remained out of reach, and Embiid did not return. The rest of the starters checked out before the fourth quarter.
Injuries â including a second knee surgery â limited Embiid to a total of 57 games over the past two seasons, including 38 in 2025-26.
Embiid underwent an emergency appendectomy in April, causing the former NBA MVP to miss the first three games of the Sixersâ first-round series against the Boston Celtics.
But Embiid excelled upon returning, averaging 28.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists to help Philadelphia rally back from a 3-1 series deficit and defeat the second-seeded Celtics in seven games.
However, the Knicks boast a distinct size advantage compared to that of Boston, making them a tougher assignment for Embiid.
Towns picked up two fouls against Embiid in the first 5:05 of Mondayâs game, sending him to the bench in favor of Robinson.
Robinson fouled Embiid shortly after that, prompting Knicks head coach Mike Brown to deploy little-used third-string center Ariel Hukporti for a spell.
âYou have to try to be as physical as you can without fouling,â Brown had said ahead of Game 1.
âEmbiidâs size with his skill, and [point guard Tyrese] Maxeyâs speed with his skill, is second to none when youâre talking about the combination of two guys with those things. But youâve got to mix up coverages and, like I said, to a certain degree you hope that they miss.â
And miss, Embiid did.
It was an all-around rough night for Embiid, who was left doubled over in pain after a second-quarter collision with Mikal Bridges.
Towns, meanwhile, continued his torrid play, including drilling a third-quarter 3-pointer over Embiid that put the Knicks up, 90-60 â and ultimately helped them take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
