The Jacksonville Jaguars still need to address their edge rusher position following the NFL draft, as highlighted by analyst Aaron Schatz. This gap in their roster could impact their overall performance in the upcoming season.

With the roster construction portion of the NFL offseason now largely behind us, what needs remain for the Jacksonville Jaguars?
Following the NFL draft, we highlighted three position groups that GM James Gladstone could add to, one of which was also mentioned by ESPN's Aaron Schatz in his recent article.
Schatz would pore over all 32 rosters, selecting the biggest remaining positional need for each team. For the Jaguars, he selected edge rusher.
The reason that this position group stands out above the rest to Schatz is because of the lack of experience on the depth chart behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker.
The Jaguars have given themselves options when it comes to those rotational snaps, with BJ Green, Danny Striggow, Wesley Williams, and Zach Durfee all competing for snaps. But to sit here today and say that this group will provide a consistent presence to pair with Hines-Allen and Walker would be guesswork.
We just don't know.
Green and Striggow both went undrafted in 2025 but made the Jaguars' 53-man roster. They played a combined 258 defensive snaps last season. Williams and Durfee are rookies and Day 3 picks.
None of this is to say that one or two of these players can't emerge and make an impact -- again, we don't know. But that uncertainty is why adding a veteran presence to increase competition and raise the floor of this unit might not be a bad idea.
Aaron Schatz identifies edge rusher as the biggest remaining positional need for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Edge rusher is critical for the Jaguars as it impacts their defensive capabilities and overall team performance.
The general manager responsible for the Jaguars' roster construction is James Gladstone.

Jacksonville's defense as a whole in 2025 ranked 18th in pressure rate and 27th in sacks.
Even with Hines-Allen and Walker leading the way here, this is a heavily rotated position group, which puts a premium on having quality depth.
