The Kansas City Chiefs have ticked a lot of boxes this offseason as general manager Brett Veach has gone about refreshing the roster ahead of 2026.

But the receiver position is one that still scares a lot of fans and media people, largely because the Chiefs have zero depth.

Outside of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton, the options aren't great, with Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, and Nikki Remigio the other options.

So, some think the Chiefs have to address this urgent need, and Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame details the big issue with the current receiver room and offers up some interesting candidates to fix it.

“The Chiefs have a solid starting trio in Rashee Rice, Tyquan Thornton and Worthy, especially when factoring in tight end Travis Kelce still producing despite being 36," Verderame wrote. "Still, there’s no depth at receiver after the top three names, and each of them has durability questions.

“With that issue looming, Kansas City could sign a free agent such as Jauan Jennings, Keenan Allen, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs or Deebo Samuel, among others. The Chiefs could also swing big and trade for disgruntled 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk.”

Could Chiefs go WR shopping?

Of course, they could, but one big issue is the salary cap.

Per Over The Cap, the Chiefs have just $6 million in cap space, so there would need to be a lot of wheeling and dealing for Kansas City to add a veteran receiver.

Granted, someone like a Deebo Samuel or Stefon Diggs could be signed for a veteran's minimum contract, so too Hill, but Aiyuk would want big money, and plus, he hasn't played in over a year.

There is a chance the Chiefs are content with their current options and believe Royals and Co. can take the next step in their development.

And if the Chiefs are to return to the postseason, I get the sense they'll have to.
