The Philadelphia 76ers aim to bounce back in Game 2 against the New York Knicks after a 137-98 loss in Game 1. Andre Drummond emphasizes the team's resilience and the need for adjustments to even the series.
NEW YORK -- As the Philadelphia 76ers headed into Madison Square Garden on Wednesday morning to prepare for shootaround ahead of Game 2, the focus was on one things: evening the series.
Following a 137-98 drubbing in a Game 1 loss to the New York Knicks in which New York shot 63.1% from the floor and 51.4% from deep, the Sixers will be looking to even things up. They have bounced back before--see Round 1 against the Boston Celtics--and will have to lean on that resilience once again on Wednesday as they look to set things right.
"We’re a resilient group," said Andre Drummond. "They did what they were supposed to do. They’re at home. They had three days off. They played a great game. You can’t beat teams that shot 60% from 3 and from the field. They did what they were supposed to do in Game 1. We’ll make the adjustments and come out tonight and play the way we’re supposed to play."
To Drummond's point, the Knicks got a lot of looks and they just knocked them down. Sort of like the series with Boston, basketball can be a make or miss game sometimes and the Knicks made theirs and the Sixers didn't as Philadelphia shot 41.1% from the floor and 36.7% from deep compared to New York's hot shooting.
"I think we were generating good shots," Drummond added. "It was just one of those games where we’re not making them and I think that’s something out of our control. It’s not like we were taking bad shots or not getting enough shots. We just weren't making them. So, those shots that we take, I’m sure they’ll go in tonight. If not, we’ll get stops and shoot them again."
Of course, the Sixers will have to play much better defense than they did in Game 1. Drummond knows it. The team knows it. Everybody knows that they have to find a way to defend the pick-and-roll better as Knicks star Jalen Brunson torched Philadelphia on Monday. That will have to change heading into Wednesday's Game 2.
Andre Drummond highlighted the team's resilience and the need to make adjustments after their Game 1 loss to the Knicks.
The 76ers lost 137-98, shooting 41.1% from the floor compared to the Knicks' 63.1% shooting percentage.
The 76ers need to improve their shooting efficiency and defensive strategies to counter the Knicks' strong performance in Game 1.

"Just paying attention to detail," Drummond stated. "Paying attention to our scouting and personnel. Knowing what to do with certain guys and how to guard them certain ways to make them play differently than what they’re used to paying. So, for us, it’s sticking to our game plan. Playing hard and making the chips fall the way they’re supposed to."
The Sixers and Knicks will tip off at 7 p.m. EDT from New York.
