Patrick Mahomes’ recovery is underway — and coach Andy Reid is seemingly cautiously optimistic.
On Monday, April 20, Reid shared an update on Mahomes’ status, four months after the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback tore his ACL and LCL in his left knee.
“He goes to meetings, he can lift, do all of that, rehab,” Reid told the media on the first day of the team’s offseason training camp. “That’s the phase he is in right now, so we will just see — play it by ear and see where he is at. He’s doing great but we just have to be smart with this thing.”
The head coach’s assessment has not changed since his comments late last month about Mahomes’ readiness come September 5, the first game of the 2026 regular season.

He added, "So far, it's all been positive. He's doing great."
