In the fallout of his three-home run robberies last Sunday, the Los Angeles Angels outfielder acknowledged the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s request and agreed to send his glove to the Cooperstown, New York-based museum.

The performance should be immortalized.

Former MLB outfielder Torri Hunter witnessed the performance and described the defensive hat trick to The Associated Press as “probably the greatest defensive game I’ve ever seen.”

A 2024 Gold Glove award finalist, Adell initially robbed Seattle Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh’s deep drive to right field, retaining a scoreless tie in the first inning.

He was just getting started.

In nearly the identical spot as his first Raleigh thievery, Adell reached up and grabbed Josh Naylor’s drive to right.

On the third theft, Adell executed his ninth-inning coup de grace by running hard into the right-field corner, reaching up, snaring the liner before tumbling into the stands, preserving the 1-0 victory at Angel Stadium.

“That was crazy,” Adell said, as reported by MLB.com. “Just after the first one, we were pretty fired up out there. And then I got the second one, which looked identical to the first one and I was like, ‘Wow, like my routes are on point tonight.’ The third one was just grit, just top of the ninth, getting it done.”

A nine-time Gold Glove award winner during his playing days, Hunter, who helped mentor Adell, described his performance as so overwhelming that the Angels' special assistant “almost passed out.”

"I've never seen three home run robberies in one game and I've never seen a guy on the third one fall into the stands, catch the ball and keep his feet in like he's a wide receiver," Hunter said. "I was jumping up and down. I almost passed out.”

By putting Adell’s mitt on display, Cooperstown officials intend to keep his efforts illuminated.
