The Los Angeles Angels are 9-10 this season, and they might've lost two of three against the New York Yankees. But they saw their superstar and future Hall of Famer, Mike Trout, have a fantastic series.
Trout hit four home runs during this Yankees series, putting up a dominant performance that continues to add to his incredible career numbers. After such a great series, Trout is climbing up the MLB leaderboards once again.
According to Baseball Reference, Trout, following this huge series in New York, has tied George Brett on the MLB bWAR leaderboard for 31st all-time.
Trout is now tied with Brett for 31st all-time in bWAR among position players, with both having 88.7 bWAR in their careers.
But Trout has played in 16 seasons, while Brett played in 21 seasons. And most notably, Trout has 7,287 career plate appearances while Brett has 11,625 plate appearances in his career.
Next on the position player leaderboard is Wade Boggs, who had 91.4 bWAR in his 21-year career in the Major Leagues. Trout can reach such a number this season if he keeps up the pace, and he could climb even higher with a great 2026 season.

Currently, Trout has put up 1.2 bWAR this season, which is just 0.3 less than what he had last season across 150 games. Trout might be back, and if he keeps this up, he could be surging up the all-time rankings.

If Trout were to keep up this pace for a full season, he'd be looking at a close to 10.0 bWAR season. That's not likely at all, but if such a stunning season actually happened, he could jump up as high as 22nd all-time in bWAR in front of Carl Yastrzemski.
Trout's resurgence this season has been incredible to watch, and hopefully, it will continue for the rest of the season. He's tied Brett on the all-time bWAR leaderboard, with Boggs now in his sights.
