The Los Angeles Angels' starting rotation has not been great to begin the year, especially with right-hander Grayson Rodriguez (right shoulder inflammation) still on the injured list. The Angels' starters are 24th-best in ERA (4.56) and have allowed the second-most walks (43).
Despite an underwhelming start from the starting staff, right-hander Jose Soriano has been a standout.

Pitching in his fourth season with the Angels, Soriano is off to an incredible start. Through his first three starts, the 27-year-old is 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA and has 21 strikeouts (six walks), and a 0.65 WHIP (Walks, Hits, per innings pitched) in 20.0 innings.

Soriano is in his 10th season with the Angels after signing as a free agent in 2016. Soriano also spent some time with the Pittsburgh Pirates after getting drafted in the Rule 5 Draft in December 2020, but was returned to the Angels in November 2021.
Last season, Soriano saw his ERA jump to over 4.00 for the first time (4.26) after having an ERA of 3.64 in 2023 and 3.42 in 2024. If Soriano can keep up his stellar performance, he could be getting the nod to go to his first All-Star game this season.
