The Los Angeles Angels re-signed pitcher Shaun Anderson to a minor league deal after he cleared waivers and elected free agency. This marks a repeat of similar transactions between Anderson and the Angels from 2025.

This is a familiar situation for both Anderson and the Angels, as the veteran did the same dance with the team several times in 2025.
After clearing waivers and electing free agency, Anderson re-signed with the team on a minor league deal three different times.

They DFA’d Anderson following a poor nine-game stretch in MLB this season, where he had a 5.94 ERA through 16.2 innings pitched. He allowed three runs in his most recent performance, which came against the Kansas City Royals the day before his placement on waivers.
Through his 16 appearances and 28 innings with the Angels, Anderson has a 7.71 ERA, accruing negative WAR during his time with the Halos.
Anderson will play for Triple-A Salt Lake for the time being, but is extremely likely to feature for the Angels again at some point during the season. The Angels’ bullpen has been substandard throughout the season, and currently have the second-worst ERA in MLB at the moment.
The 31-year-old right-hander may not be the next reliever the Angels add to their bullpen, though, as Ben Joyce began his rehab assignment with SIngle-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday and is well on his way to a long-awaited return.
