Angels Send Pitching Prospect Back to Triple-A

The Los Angeles Angels sent No. 4 prospect George Klassen back to Triple-A ahead of Sunday’s win against the Cincinnati Reds.
In a corresponding move, they selected the contract of right-hander Nick Sandlin from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Klassen made two appearances for the Angels this season before his reassignment, and didn’t impress enough to warrant a spot on the Halos’ MLB roster. He pitched just 4.2 innings across his two starts, allowing six earned runs and walking 10 batters.
He walked five batters in each of his starts, and left his second start of the season after just two innings pitched due to an issue with his fingernail.

The Angels called Klassen up to MLB earlier in the season following his first Triple-A start, where he pitched 4.2 innings and allowed a single run with five strikeouts.
He spent all of 2025 in the minors, though missed some time after a line drive struck him midway through the season. He made 24 starts in Double-A and one in Triple-A, posting a 5.22 ERA across both levels, and struck out 134 batters through 108.2 innings.
As Klassen only just made his most recent start, the Angels have a few days to figure out who will slot into their rotation in the right-hander’s place. Sandlin has predominantly pitched in relief throughout his career and isn’t likely to fill the spot, so the Halos will have to find a different answer to the hole in their rotation.
