The Boston Bruins could look to try to pull off a blockbuster trade this offseason.
Boston made the playoffs this season and exceeded expectations as the Bruins weren’t projected to be a playoff team entering the year. However, the Bruins suffered a first-round playoff exit, and Boston will now look to bolster the roster.
Ahead of the offseason, Bruins insider and analyst Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic urges Boston to pursue a trade for Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk.
“The Ottawa Senators’ left wing is signed for two more seasons,” Shinzawa wrote in an article published on Tuesday. “But given Ottawa’s first-round exit and Tkachuk’s zero-point postseason output, the Senators may be concerned about whether he wants to stay upon the conclusion of his contract.
“There would be a line at the U.S.-Canada border of parties interested in acquiring the power forward. Whether the Bruins would have enough assets to catch Ottawa’s eye is unknown. But the 26-year-old can impact games with his physicality, high-danger presence and spirit like few others can.”
Brady Tkachuk has a contract valued at $57 million.

Tkachuk is set to enter the sixth year of his seven-year, $57.56 million deal with the Senators. Although Tkachuk has said he wants to stay in Ottawa, his name has come up in trade rumors, and if he is indeed available, the Bruins should be checking in to see what the price would be.
Tkachuk recorded 22 goals and 37 assists for 59 points in 60 games this season with the Sens. He was also helped Team USA win Olympic Gold in Milan.
