Anthony Richardson to Pittsburgh? Kay Adams has an idea as Steelers wait on Aaron Rodgers
As the Pittsburgh Steelers wait on quarterback Aaron Rodgers to decide whether to return for the 2026 NFL season, sports commentator Kay Adams has an idea:
"Pittsburgh, I have a perfect way to cover your bases," she said on her "Up and Adams" podcast. "Go get Anthony Richardson. ... Go get the other AR."
Richardson, the No. 4 overall draft pick in 2023 who was benched last season in favor of newcomer Daniel Jones, has asked for a trade.
Rodgers, the 42-year-old future Hall of Famer, played the 2025 season with Pittsburgh, completing 65.7% of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
Here's Adams' logic: "For a mid- to late-round pick, you can bring in a guy into the building who is 23 years old ⦠who I know has unlimited upside. And you either have to let him sit behind Aaron for a year, and that's great.
"If Aaron decides not to come back, Mike McCarthy, are you a great coach? How great of a coach are you? Can you make the most of his talent? Go for it. And if it works out, you have your dude for the future."
And if Richardson doesn't work out? "You're picking at the top of a (QB)-heavy draft (in 2027)."
Her conclusion: "Tell me the reason not to."
The Colts could have other suitors for Richardson as the draft unfolds this week. Los Angeles Rams backup quarterback Jimmy Garappolo is reportedly considering retirement.
