The Arizona Cardinals and their selection of running back Jeremiyah with the third overall pick of the 2026 NFL draft were featured in ESPN's documentary, "The Pick is In." which premiered on Sunday. However, it wasn't focused on the Cardinals, and it didn't include a bit of a blooper moment for the Cardinals.
The parts that focused on Love were more from the point of view of his agent, Kyle McCarthy.
In the premiere, McCarthy tells Love earlier in the day that he felt that Love's ceiling in the draft was at No. 3 with the Cardinals.
When it was time for the draft and the Cardinals were on the clock after the Las Vegas Raiders had selected QB Fernando Mendoza and the New York Jets had selected EDGE David Bailey, time was coming off the clock without the Cardinals making the pick or getting Love on the phone.
His agent and other teams who were filmed all reacted with the idea that the Cardinals were making trade calls. We all thought this at the time.
That wasn't what happened.
Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort explained after the first round of the draft that the reason why the pick didn't get filed more quickly was because of "technical difficulties."
"We had the wrong phone number," Ossenfort explained. "The phone number that we were given was the wrong one and so that was a little bit of the delay. But we got that straightened out and we called Jeremiyah and got a hold of him. That is what the delay was."
Love got the call and his agent hadn't even realized it, and then the pick was announced.
One would think that with a wrong number in the draft room, causing a little bit of drama, that would have made it as part of the show.
It didn't, so unless you heard the story on draft night or are learning it now for the first time, you can chuckle at another small Cardinals mishap.

ESPN's documentary primarily focused on Jeremiyah Love's agent, Kyle McCarthy, rather than the Cardinals' decision-making process.
During the draft, the Cardinals took time to make their pick, leading to a moment where they did not immediately contact Jeremiyah Love.
